Muharram marks the first month in the Islamic Lunar Calendar. The Muslim New Year begins with a tragedy where both the strength and weaknesses of humanity were tested. It begins with the deaths of the grandson of the Holy Prophet (SAW) –Imam Hussain (AS), along with his family and companions.It’s a reminder that Allah (SWT) is the governor of Time, and we are to serve on His Earth until He calls us to return to Him.In remembering death, we recall the verse, Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Rajioon:“Indeed we belong to Allah, and to Him we are returning”(2:156). We are in a continuous process of returning to Allah (SWT). Every breath we take, every opportunity, challenge, calamity, are all steps in our journey back to our Lord until our Time on this Earth comes to an end. Difficulties or tribulations are something every human has to face. None of us is free from the cage of hardships. The tribulations we confront are meant to teach us lessons and those events moulded us into the person Allah SWT wants us to be.“And we will surely test you with something of fear and hungerand a loss of wealth and lives and fruits , but give good tidings to the patient”(Al-Baqarah : 155)
You alone we worship and you alone we call for help Ya Jabbar! Oh Allah bring this year upon us with health; wealth; security,faith, peace around the world and end to this pandemic. There is no shortage of abundance in your treasures. Shower us with your mercy and accept all our duas – ameen ya rabbi.
