Let us welcome a wonderful new month with many ways to draw nearer to God, improve ourselves, and find peace. Sha’ban is a month for seeking nearness to Allah and preparing for the height of opportunity in the month of Ramadan. One of the best deeds we can perform in the month of Shaban is fasting. A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said regarding the prophet ﷺ‘I did not see him fasting in any month more than Shaban.’ [Bukhari]During this month we should make extra efforts to recite the Quran, making a habit of this in readiness for the blessed Ramadan. With full of joy, hope and optimism, we start spiritual preparation for Ramadan during this month. We must make plans; set goals and targets; prepare lists of worships to do and pray that Allah bless us with the opportunity to witness Ramadan and benefit from it.
